Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s Homes Through the Years
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have lived in a variety of homes throughout their lives, from royal residences in the UK to their current estate in California. Their journey reflects both their personal growth and the evolving nature of their public roles.
Harry’s Clarence House Residence
From 2003 until 2012, Prince Harry lived at Clarence House in London with his father, Charles III. The 19th-century Regency-style estate was built between 1825 and 1827 for the Duke of Clarence, who later became King William IV. At 27, Harry moved out to live at Kensington Palace, where he had more space for himself. In his memoir Spare, he revealed that his stepmother Camilla turned his bedroom into her dressing room after he left.

Meghan’s Los Angeles Home
Before meeting Harry, Meghan lived in a two-story Colonial home in LA’s Hancock Park neighborhood. The 1920s house featured an open floor plan, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. It was a great place for entertaining, with a formal dining room that opened onto a backyard patio.
Meghan’s Toronto Home
While filming Suits in Toronto from 2011 to 2018, Meghan lived in a three-bedroom, two-bathroom rental. The A-frame house had a mauve façade, charcoal trim, and a turquoise front door. She decorated it with California-inspired touches, such as exposed hardwood floors and lots of natural light. Harry visited the home and described it as a charming place that she adored.

Nottingham Cottage
After moving to Kensington Palace in 2012, Harry briefly stayed in a one-bedroom apartment at Nottingham Cottage. When he and Meghan got engaged in 2017, she joined him there. The modest 1,300-square-foot home had a black-and-white checkerboard tiled kitchen, a small living room, and a dining room. Meghan noted that it was much smaller than Kensington Palace, and Harry joked about the low ceilings.
Cotswolds Escape
After their 2018 wedding, the Sussexes rented a four-bedroom farmhouse in the Cotswolds called Westfield Large. The property included a separate cottage and a converted barn. They split their time between here and Nottingham Cottage while waiting for renovations at Frogmore Cottage to be completed.
Frogmore Cottage
Frogmore Cottage, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, was a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth II. After renovations, it became a five-bedroom home with a yoga studio, modern kitchen, and baby nursery. The couple moved in just before the birth of their son Archie in 2019. However, after announcing they would step back from royal duties in 2020, they repaid the Sovereign Grant money used for renovations and eventually vacated the property in 2023.

Getaway Homes and Montecito Mansion
The Sussexes briefly stayed on Vancouver Island before moving to Los Angeles in 2020. They lived at Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills compound before settling into their current home in Montecito, California. This Mediterranean-style mansion spans 18,700 square feet and includes nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a tennis court, and a swimming pool. It is their first home ownership experience.

Over the years, the couple has shared glimpses of their life in Montecito. In 2021, Meghan showed off their backyard chicken coop during an interview with Oprah Winfrey. The home’s interior features a classic Tuscan villa style, with coastal tones and nature-inspired decor. In 2025, Meghan posted a peek inside the kitchen, revealing wooden cabinetry, a butcher-block island, and a blue-and-white tile backsplash.
Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan is filmed at a different Montecito mansion, but it still offers a glimpse into her domestic life. She emphasizes the importance of making guests feel comfortable, from the items at their bedside to the bath products in the bathroom.
This property remains Harry and Meghan’s primary residence.
