My Picks Start at Just $12

Some people go right into Christmas mode on November 1st, but now is also a great time to give your home a cozy little refresh for winter. As an interior designer and long-time shopping editor, my whole job is to create your desired mood in your home, and I also just so happen to love the glitz, glow, and soft textures that make winter nights by the fireplace and chilly mornings in your PJs with a big cup of coffee so special.
To help you achieve the perfect wintery aesthetic that can come out well before—and last you long after—Christmas, here are 16 of my favorite winter home decor picks you can shop this season. They include finds from brands like Anthropologie and West Elm, go-to retailers like Wayfair and Amazon, and even independent creators and artists on Etsy. Everything on my list is under $100, and the majority of these picks are actually under $30. Happy shopping!
Interior Designer-Approved Winter Home Decor
Beautyrest Oversized Flannel Cotton Sheet Set in Ivory, $58

$58 at nordstromrack.com
First things first: You’ve got to get your bed winter-ready, and that means pulling out the flannel sheets. These 100-percent cotton flannel sheets will make your bed so warm and toasty, you’ll never want to leave. They come in five colors, including a lovely sage green, but the solid ivory seen here has a beautiful, almost snowy look, and as a neutral, it coordinates nicely with pretty much any of your existing quilts, comforters, and duvets.
Monday Moose Velvet Pillow Covers in Powder Blue, $17 (was $19)

$19
$17 at Amazon
There’s virtually no easier way to change up your decor from season to season than swapping out your throw pillow covers. These velvet shams will add another layer of soft and cozy texture that’s also a little bit luxe, too. The powder blue hue is the perfect pale, icy winter blue, and the fringe detail gives the pillow covers a little extra personality. This set is just $19 for two 18-inch square pillowcases, but if you have smaller or larger pillows, you can snag them in 16-inch and 20-inch sizes, too.
Madison Park Chunky Knit Chenille Throw Blanket, $44 (was $110)

$110
$44 at Wayfair
If curling up under a big, thick (and of course, ultra soft!) blanket with a mug of hot cider by your side and your favorite movie on the TV sounds like your ideal evening, then this pick is for you. This chunky knit throw made with jumbo chenille yarn will give your space the cozy vibes you’re looking for, and you can rest assured knowing it's Oeko-Tex certified, meaning it meets international standards set to ensure items don’t contain any potentially harmful substances. It comes in seven different colors, but I’m partial to this creamy off-white.
Duduta White 2’ x 3’ Faux Sheepskin Throw Rug, $17 (was $27)

$27
$17 at Amazon
Between flannel, chunky knits, and velvet, we’ve covered most of my favorite go-to textiles for winter, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t include some faux fur. Faux sheepskins like this can work as an accent rug to add some warmth to your floors, but I particularly like to drape them over a harder, more structured chair for added coziness. Use a few in this 2-foot by 3-foot size to give your dining chairs some winter flair, or grab one of the three larger sizes to serve as a rug.
Set of 3 Nordic Ceramic Tea Light Houses, $38

$38 at Etsy
While earlier and earlier sunsets may be the worst part of winter, it does lead to one of my favorite aesthetic things about this time of year: warm, glowy, twinkly lights. ‘Tis the season for string lights, and of course, all of the candles. These simple white ceramic Nordic-style houses are adorable tea light covers that offer winter vibes without automatically reading as Christmas decor, so you can leave them up all season long.
SoulBay Rechargeable Tea Lights, Set of 6, $16 (was $18)

$18
$16 at Amazon
Speaking of tea lights, if you’re not a fan of actually burning the mini candles, you can achieve a similar glow with some faux ones like this set of six from SoulBay. I personally use these tea lights in my own home, and I love that they’re rechargeable. They have multiple modes to flicker just like real candles, and with the pretty tea light cover, I doubt you’ll be able to tell the difference.
Luze Le Pearl Candle Warmer Lamp, $30 (was $50)

$50
$30 at nordstromrack.com
I switched to using candle warmer lamps instead of burning my favorite candles a few years ago, and I have yet to find a reason to go back to the old way. Not only do they double as a table lamp, but these candle warmers save you from the hassle of worrying about having open flames in your home. I’ve found they also make your candles last a lot longer than they normally would. I love that this pick’s beautiful, fluted, scalloped pearlescent shade feels right on the nose for winter, too.
Balsam & Cedar Silver Crackle Glass Candle, $24 (was $29)

$29
$24 at West Elm
There’s something about light flickering through all the tiny imperfections in a shiny mercury glass vessel that feels equal parts glamorous and nostalgic, and perfect for the season. This gorgeous crackle glass candle is the perfect addition to your mantel, tablescape, or coffee table. Plus, the balsam and cedar scent with hints of oak moss, eucalyptus, and cinnamon will bring a little bit of the outdoors in.
Tia Metal Star Icon Candle Holder in Gold, $12 (was $16)

$16
$12 at Anthropologie
Stars and celestial iconography go hand-in-hand with winter, in my opinion—maybe because it’s the season that we’re met with starry skies and moonlight before dinner time. In any case, these star-shaped gold taper candle holders from Anthropologie are a fun way to add some personality and drama (I can’t be the only one who thinks taper candles create a dramatic look) to places like your dining table or even your fireplace mantel. Plus, if you just can’t part with them come spring, they’re simple enough that you can keep them out year-round.
Ice Skaters in Central Park 11” x 14” Art Print, $19 (was $25)

$25
$19 at Etsy
Another fun and easy swap to make for the season? Changing up your artwork. This art print from Indigo Thistle Studio on Etsy is the perfect nostalgic winter piece, depicting ice skaters in NYC’s iconic Central Park. The bright, warm colors and snowy scene will definitely add some wintery goodness into your home, and you can leave it up during—and well past—the holidays.
Faux Droopy Pine Branch

$30
$24 at West Elm
You can’t go wrong with incorporating some natural elements into your space, like real (or in this case, faux) pine branches. I love the droopy, more sparse look of this branch, along with the small pinecones adorning it—it just feels whimsical, like if Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree were a cool, stylish way to fill a beautiful vase.
Holly Striped Coir Printed Doormat

$48
$34 at Anthropologie
Swapping out your doormat for winter will give your visitors and guests a fun, seasonally appropriate first impression. This coir doormat is screen-printed but has a lovely hand-painted look, with wavy stripes and holly vines peppered with white, wintery berries. It’s another way to celebrate the season without going into full-on Christmas mode, but come the holidays, you can easily leave this out and up the ante with other decorations at your front door.
St. Jude Skiers Wonderland Oversized Mugs, Set of 4

$64 at West Elm
During the chillier months, two things remain true about me: First, I love a little bit of wintery kitsch and whimsy. And second, I don’t think there’s anything cozier than an oversized mug. These 25-ounce mugs are just the thing for enjoying an extra-large cup of hot cocoa, and the skier motif is truly adorable. The mugs come in a set of four, and a portion of the proceeds goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Cute and for a good cause: It’s a win-win.
“Après Ski: The Scene, the Style, the Menu” Book

$40
$28 at Anthropologie
If you loved the skiing scene on the mugs above or you’re just into the “après ski” lifestyle, you’ll love this book, which is the perfect coffee table book to leave out all winter long. The books you display can easily be rotated out from season to season, and this stunning hardcover pick is all about the fashion and lifestyle (and even the cocktails and food) that tend to go hand-in-hand with skiing culture.
Yougoals Gold Edge White Agate Coasters, Set of 4

$40 at Amazon
Geodes and crystals may not automatically feel like the winter aesthetic, but you can’t tell me these white agate coasters don’t look like ice-covered windowpanes. The gold edge gives them a little bit of that luxe factor, and they’re another way to bring some more natural elements inside. And of course, they’ll protect your coffee table from all the seasonal cocktails and warm beverages you’re likely to enjoy this season.
Primrue Frosted Pine Cone Berry 27” Wreath

$55
$44 at Wayfair
If you’re someone who likes to have a wreath up year-round that you change out from season to season, this pick from Wayfair is a great option for winter that doesn’t exclusively read as Christmas. The simple greenery combined with some flocked pine cones and tiny sprays of white berries is all you need to achieve that wintery look at your front door—and you can always add lights, bows, and even little ornaments when the holidays start to approach.
